Lorna Dilley

Website design for a fine artist

Lorna Dilley, a fantastic artist, needed a website to act as an online portfolio where she could direct potential buyers. Frog Box Design undertook the project with gusto!

We were keen to make the site as accessible as possible, and for it to act as a foil for Lorna’s paintings and drawings. The blue and orange stripes act as a frame for the site without overpowering the content. They are strong visual identifiers that will be carried across into stationery and other printed items.

We designed the site with XHTML and CSS. To ensure good indexing by search engines and forward-compatibility… So it came as no surprise to us when Lorna started to receive requests for artworks from the site. Most recently, the site was found by a representative from the Saatchi Gallery. The Gallery’s representative was impressed with the quality of her work and asked if she would to add her work to Saatchi’s Your Gallery!

As you can imagine, Lorna’s pleased, and not just about being featured because she sees a bigger picture here. (Excuse the pun!) Lorna wants people to see that there is more to art than the loud “I am–, as she puts it, of some of the better-known artists. She keeps her prices reasonable because she wants everyone to feel that they can own an original piece of art. Lorna also takes commissions based on a colour, which is quite unusual – normally artists accept commission work around a specific theme or place or whatever.

So, if you’ve just re-decorated, or moved, or you’ve got a bit of space that could do with a splash of colour that’s coordinated to the rest of your décor, have a look around dilleyart.co.uk and if you like what you see, drop her an email. We can guarantee you won’t be disappointed!
